Qanat Al Qasba

This is my take on this weeks sketch over at
SOUS - Stuck On U Sketches....

The sketch - by BeggaHuna.....

Using my December '09 Half Tart Kit
from Lime Tart.....

Papers are Basic Grey "Nook & Pantry"
Subtitle - Eye of Dubai - Basic Grey
Basic Grey Bling It on top of Basic Grey doily.....

Bazzill cardstock
Flowers from stash
Circular jewel with blue bling from stash.....

Nestabilities - Labels Twelve
Title - Qanat Al Qasba - Cricut Winter Wonderland
Flourishes - Cricut Wall Decor & More.....

Photo's are from the trip DH and I made to
Dubai in July 2007 - they have been
waiting for just the right page to display them....

This sketch suits them perfectly....

The four small photo's show some of the
beautiful attention to detail in this
quiet tourist attraction that is
off the beaten track in Dubai.....

The wheel wasn't open when we were there,
so we didn't get a chance to go on it.
I'm sure the views would have been magnificent.....

Seemingly, they are currently constructing
a new wheel in Dubai - even bigger!!!!!

Must Google that.....

But it doesn't surprise me....
So looking forward to returning to Dubai one day
- have to see the Burj Dubai finished.
It was an awesome building even before it
was complete - must scrap those photo's.....

Hugs

Jane xx

Addit (2013) - the Burj Dubai was
renamed Burj Khalifa - and it is magnificent.
 Tallest building in the world!!

Portrait Poses

I have come to a conclusion over the last couple of days....
There are far too many sketch sites on the Net....
I want to be able to participate in them all....
But, I don't have the time......
Here is my take on the latest sketch
over at Sketches In Thyme....

The sketch.....

Papers are Crate Paper - Cottage Collection.....

Bazzill cardstock, Pink Paislee alpha.....

Kaiser pearls, butterfly stamp by Grace Taylor.....

I love these photo's of DD, DSIL, Rebekah and Emma
- a beautiful little family.....

I think I might just have made the cut off
for this challenge.....
Will need to post my SOUS entry,
or I'll miss that one....
If only I didn't have to go to work.....
Hugs

HOPE

This is a layout I have made for Challenge # 13
over at My Mind's Eye.....

Here is the sketch for the challenge and
we were to use the word 'Hope'.....

I have used the MME 'Life Stories' Collection -
Pink Damask,
Roses and
Tiny Red Flowers,
and the Life Stories Accessory Sheet # 2.....

I found this verse on the Net, author unknown,
and it fits what I am trying to
convey to my Granddaughters perfectly....

Bazzill cardstock, Prima flowers
and some lace complete the page.....

Delighted with the finished page....

Now to a couple of awards.....
Both from my very good blogging buddy Fern....

Thank you so much Fern.
You should head over to Fern's blog
- she does amazing things with paper,
I love her work, and you will too,
she makes amazing layouts -
Fern, you ROCK.....

Now, I am going to pass these two awards
over to a very special team.....
The girls at SOUS - Stuck on U Sketches.....

Sandi Clarkson
Leah Schaeffer
Nanne Harry
Sandy Windsor
This Design Team are the best on the Net....
Every week they bring amazing inspiration
to us scrappers who need a little mojo boost,
and I for one totally appreciate
their wonderful work....
Sadly, however, Sandy Windsor has decided
to stand down from the team,
family life takes over, as it should,
she will be missed -
good luck in all you do Sandy....
So, I give these two awards to - SOUS.....

Four Layouts

These layouts came as a kit from
a store here in Perth....

This first layout is a page of my Mum & Dad,
back in their courting days in the 50s.....

I love the cluster of flowers, and the swirls.....

The doily and lace add just enough of the romantic touch....

This next layout is my Dad.....

I love the chipboard keyhole and key on this page,
and the inked string.....

Achieved simply with a pinecone ink pad
and Rub n Buff....

The hinges are achieved the same way.....

The title was cut on Cricut.....

Love you Dad.....

The next layout, Timeless Beauty, is my Mum.....

I think this is a passport photo,
obviously taken in the days when
we were allowed to smile.....

Sadly, Mum is no longer with us,
thus I feel this title is absolutely perfect.....

The Dusty Attic clock is just the
perfect embellishment.....

The final layout is one from my distant memory.....

Yes, that's me standing on the extreme right.....

This photo was taken the Christmas
before we went to Singapore.
I still remember that dress I'm wearing,
it was bright orange!!.....

I'm surrounded by, what I call my old
aunties and uncles, and seated to the far left
of the photo is my Great Grandmother.
I remember her dearly, she lived to
the age of 93, passing away in 1980,
just before my daughter was born,
her first Great Great Grandchild....

Cherish Family - always.....
Nothing replaces family......

Thanks for coming by....
More challenges coming up soon....
Hugs
Jane xx
